Kira of the Month (May 2025)

Hello, and welcome to the fifth edition of Kira of the Month, where we showcase what our mascot, Kira Yamada, has been doing for the month! Let's see what she's been doing for May.

Summary

Nice moves, Kira!

The month of May is the perfect time for Kira to go to the soccer field and showcase her amazing moves! 

Fun fact about Kira: She loves to play as a striker since she loves to score goals for her team. Her favorite player is Lionel Messi, so she wants to play like Lionel Messi.  

As a player, she's swift and fearless with the ball. She plays with her head high and wants to play to her full potential on the field. 

The main concern I would say is that she can be too fearless because she doesn't have any shin guards.

Behind the Scenes

What was the initial idea behind this month's Kira design?

The initial idea for this design was one of Kira's hobbies that she loves to do: playing sports such as soccer (or football for people outside of the United States)

Were there any specific themes, anime influences, or references that inspired the look?

The theme of the design I was inspired by was the love and passion of soccer (or football), which translates to Kira playing soccer as well. 

Were there multiple sketches or versions? If so, what were the main differences?

There were two sketches for the design for this month: one with Kira wearing a ponytail and one with Kira with her iconic long hair.

What made you choose the final design over other options? (e.g. hair length, outfit, pose, etc.)

The reason I chose this final design was to try a new hairstyle that would fit Kira whenever she plays sports such as soccer. As much as I love her iconic hairstyle, at least I want a hairstyle that could fit something athletic.

Is there a hidden detail or Easter egg in the design?

There has been an underrated Easter Egg I have for this design. The jersey that Kira is wearing is almost similar to the jersey from the Blue Lock series when Blue Lock players are against the U20 Japanese national team.

If Kira had a personality or story for this month's look, what would it be?

Kira's having a nice month of getting active with her favorite sport: soccer. Hopefully, she hydrates herself when she's finished~
