Kira of the Month (March 2025)

Mardi Gras is a vibrant pre-Lenten celebration famous for its elaborate parades, costumed revelers, and lively street parties. Expect music, beads, and a generally festive atmosphere perfect for letting loose and having a blast before Ash Wednesday.

Although she's wearing her usual outfit, a simple Mardi Gras mask is always good enough for someone to celebrate Mardi Gras.

What was the initial idea behind this month's Kira design?

The initial idea for this design would be to celebrate Mardi Gras, which is celebrated in the state of Louisiana.

Were there any specific themes, anime influences, or references that inspired this look?

The theme for the design I was inspired by is simply a minimalistic, but festive Mardi Gras with just a simple Mardi Gras mask.

Were there multiple sketches or versions? If so, what were the main differences?

Surprisingly, there was just one sketch of the design since I love a straightforward sketch of a holiday that's near and dear to Kira-chan.

What made you choose this final design over other options? (e.g. hair length, outfit, pose)

The reason I chose this final design is that it's the perfect way to end the month on something festive, but something that hits close to home. 

Is there a hidden detail or Easter egg in the design?

There's nothing specifically hidden or an Easter egg we have for this design, but on the bright side, the mask looks nice on Kira, and it compliments her hairpins.

If Kira had a personality or story for this month's look, what would it be?

Kira loves to have a good time, and Mardi Gras is the perfect time to party and have a good time: it's like bright skies that are complemented by a bright sun.
